Summer of Fandoms Sketchathon Prompt July 7: your OTP?
Amy and Rory forever, folks. This was my reaction to Asylum of the Daleks, in which Amy erroneously dumps Rory, or in her words, "gave him up." Plus, it made it seem like the whole thing was Rory's fault for wanting kids, when in reality it was just Amy making stupid assumptions. After the massive story arc that was the love story of the Ponds, such a plot device seemed poorly contrived, yanked out of the half-baked idea pot.
I mean, two thousand years, people. What was Amy thinking? What were the writers thinking? If they wanted a serious trial of their relationship, it ought to have been more proportional to their level of trust and love.
Also, adoption is an option, people. And if anyone could have hooked them up with a kid to raise, it would have been the Doctor!

While I hadn't really given that much thought when I first saw the episode..I seriously agree.
The idea really didn't make much sense, and I don't know why Moffat felt the need to us it. Like you said, if there was going to be a threat to their relationship, it should've been something much bigger.
